Pastor's Reflection - October 11, 2026
A Call To The Wedding Banquet
As we reflect on this 28th Sunday of Ordinary Time the Gospel brings us into the heart of a powerful invitation. We hear the parable of the king who prepares a magnificent wedding banquet for his son. It is a vivid image of God’s boundless love, an invitation extended to each of us to share in the joy and abundance of the Kingdom.
Yet the parable also carries an important challenge: we are summoned, but we must come prepared. When the king encounters a guest who is not wearing a wedding garment, we are reminded that responding to God’s invitation means more than simply showing up. It calls for a change of heart and a life shaped by grace. We are called to clothe ourselves in faith, charity, and good works so that we are ready to celebrate the banquet of salvation.
Speaking of new beginnings, while I was recently away on my cruise to Alaska with my family, I totally revamped my personal website which always has the Sunday homily and other faith resources. I am constantly adding new material, so check it out. There is a page with the most recent updates. The website address is www.thegraceofpentecost.com.
May the upcoming weeks find us preparing ourselves for the wedding feast of the Lamb by first and foremost always coming to Mass with an expectant faith and joyful heart.
Have a blessed week!
In Christ,
Fr. James Northrop, Pastor
