Auction Details

Following is the catalogue of over 70 auction items available for your bidding at our second annual Oktoberfest Dinner Auction on October 21. Tickets to this event are available for only three weekends beginning September 16 unless they sell out sooner. We thank our many donors for a wonderful variety of experiences, activities, and gift certificates for meals, self-care, experiences and other items. The auction also features a lovely selection of baskets curated by parishioners with varied themes.

1. “All Is Calm” when your high bid wins you reserved parking and a front row seat for the 5:00 Christmas Eve Mass. Your Christmas will be brighter when you celebrate with a little less stress in getting to the church on time! Donor: St. Barbara Parish. Value: Priceless! (Value determined by a mom who knows the challenge of wrapping up Christmas preparations, preparing dinner, dressing children - and herself, and arriving in time for Mass ready with a mindset for celebrating the birth of our Lord! 2. Sailing the Summer Sun:  Come sail aboard the "Summer Sun," a splendid 20-foot daysailer. With Seattle's iconic Space Needle gracing the horizon, you'll set sail on the serene waters of Lake Union. Choose between an invigorating day sail or a tranquil evening cruise, both offering a unique perspective on the city's skyline. As you glide through the shimmering waters, you might find your host skillfully dodging the take-off and landing of seaplanes, adding an extra dash of excitement to your journey. This exceptional experience is available during the late spring and summer months, promising an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Seattle's beauty. This will likely be an active experience and passengers must be able to quickly move from side to side depending on the wind. 3. Sourdough By Kathy and Clive: Enjoy delicious homemade sourdough bread baked fresh from parishioner Kathy French’s kitchen. Made with organic ingredients and 100% naturally fermented, this monthly subscription will make your evening meal even more special as you gather to break bread and share your day. Bread basket includes two sourdough Pain de Mie (white) sandwich loaves with a bow bread knife. Beginning in December 2023, you will receive two fresh loaves delivered during the first week of every month through November 2024. ​4. “Make a Joyful Noise” with front row reserved parking and pew seating on Easter Morning (10:00 Mass)! Your morning will be more joyful with the peace of knowing parking and a pew will be waiting for you – no need to rush into church hoping there will be a space to seat your family. ​5. Nativity Set from the extensive collection of Father Dave Rogerson. You may now have one of the hundreds of Nativity Sets featured in St. Barbara’s narthex during Advent over the past many years. ​6. Cruise Beautiful Lake Sawyer during the summer of 2024 with your hosts Bob and Janie Edelman. Six people will enjoy a late afternoon/evening summer cruise around the lake with a historic narration provided by Janie. Hearty appetizers and beverages will be served followed by Music on the Lake. The boat will be anchored near a dock to listen to local musicians play their tunes. Dates for Music on the Lake will be announced in Spring 2024 and will be coordinated with the high bidder. ​7. Lake House Getaway on Hicks Lake (Lacey): Relax in this newly updated cute and cozy one bedroom cottage which sleeps four for a two-night getaway.  Watch the geese and Bald Eagles soar overhead with a glass of wine on the deck. Enjoy the seasonal changes of fall, winter and early spring with a lake view. “Camp Midles” can be used as a base to visit the local area or just relax and enjoy this peaceful lake getaway. ​8. Wine Tasting at Sigillo Cellars: Six adults will enjoy a tasting flight of current Sigillo Cellars wines paired with a complimentary charcuterie board to share while you relax in their beautiful tasting room in Historic Downtown Snoqualmie. Each couple will receive a bottle of their favorite wine, plus small bites to enjoy, complimentary of your hosts, Stephen and Valerie Winston Healy. To wrap up the experience, all guests receive 10% off any wine purchases made on the day of their visit. Don’t just taste wine, experience it! Valid through April 2024. ​11. Traditional Italian Dinner: The Quinn family invites you to embark on a tantalizing journey with their Italian dinner experience. Delight in handmade pasta, rich homemade sauce, a fresh Caprese salad, savory focaccia and a divine dessert! Join Phil and Katie for an unforgettable evening of flavor and community up to for 10 people. Families and children welcome! Hosted by Phil and Katie Quinn. Donors: Phil and Katie Quinn. 12. Snowshoe Trek for Four: Have you ever considered heading out to embrace the best of the PNW in the winter? If you've never been snowshoeing, or it's been a while, this is a great introductory trek! You will snowshoe a maximum of six miles with the option to turn around early. This winter adventure will take you through beautiful forest land to a lakeshore and campground turned into a winter wonderland! Warm up with hot chocolate and snacks at the lake before returning to the car. Included: snowshoes, poles, permits, snacks and hot cocoa, and transportation from St. Barbara Church. Trek is recommended for ages 12+, although young children can be carried by their parents (and will not count toward the 4 snowshoers). Expiration date March 31, 2024. Date to be mutually agreed upon and planned in advance with both weekend and week days available. Recommended for use in January or February. Backup date will be selected based on weather and safety. 13. Getaway To Charming Gig Harbor:  Enjoy a relaxing one night stay close to home, yet so far away. To make the most of your stay, plan to arrive in the afternoon for lunch and explore the beauty and quaintness of this historic harbor. Further explore Gig Harbor and surrounding areas after check-out the following day. Poulsbo is a 45 minute drive west and Bainbridge is west one hour. You may want to consider riding the Bainbridge-Seattle ferry home for a full circle experience! The Waterfront Inn is a small boutique inn with six rooms located at the edge of downtown Gig Harbor close to restaurants and shops. It boasts a large deck and kayaks are included for guests! She has been a family and wedding photographer for 9 years, and takes pride in providing sessions that allow families and couples the space to be themselves while capturing their true essence and inner beauty. 17. Montana Huckleberry Gift Basket:  The fruit of Montana is featured in this wonderful and tasty basket filled with a variety of delicious items. 21. The Little Gym provides children a safe and inspiring space to direct energy, build confidence and develop a variety of skills. 23. Wood Carving – Three Little Bears: Parishioner Tony Kondziela has shared his carving talents with his work in our church. He has donated this sweet whimsical bear family carving with painted faces. This piece can be displayed indoors or outdoors. It also has charm that would work well in a family or child’s space. 25. Food for the Mind and Soul: This basket features a variety of items to help educate, build and savor our Catholic faith. Included are books for all ages starting with a Sister Saraphina Adventure story (ages 5-8+), “Perfect Gifts,” an adventure of Nick and Sam (ages 8-12), a family devotional by Pope Francis and “My Life With the Saints” by Jesuit Father James Martin. 27. First Communion Veil With Floral Headband: Parishioner Pauline Von Ruden lovingly creates veils for young girls to wear on their First Communion. 28. Know Thy Bible: These three books will assist as you learn more about the Bible. The titles, “Where to Find It In the Bible” and “The Complete Bible Handbook” will guide you through any Bible study in growing your knowledge. 37. Children’s Lap Quilt: This handmade, colorful hand-tied quilt features twelve different adorable animals individually stitched into the design. 38. St. Barbara Blanket: Own a piece of St. Barbara history! This historic and never used blanket was part of fundraising efforts to build our new church building, which was dedicated in May 1997. The blanket features a rendering of our beautiful church. Prominent are the unique stained glass windows reflecting the history and role of St. Barbara parish during the coal mining era of the early 1900s. Founded in 1911, St. Barbara Catholic church supported the bustling community spiritually and socially as we continue to do today. Fundraising price was $100.00. Donors: Barbara and Phil Schile. 39. For Our Fur-Babies – A Pet Lover’s Basket: This wonderful basket features a large selection of items to care for our fur baby family members including seasonal toys. 52. Nutcracker – A Magical Holiday Tradition! Introduce Nutcracker to your family with two tickets to this classic ballet performed by local dance company, Ensemble Ballet Theatre (EBT). EBT is a Maple Valley ballet company and dance studio teaching various styles of dance. The company produces large-scale performances at IKEA Theatre in Renton. This annual production provides an affordable way to introduce children to this classical ballet as you celebrate the Christmas season.
