Welcoming Committee

At St. Barbara Catholic Church, we believe in the power of purposeful hospitality to transform lives and build a vibrant, faith-filled community. Our Welcome Ministry is dedicated to ensuring that everyone who walks through our doors feels the love and warmth of Christ. Whether you're a long-time parishioner or a first-time visitor, we have a place for you in our community.

Our Activities and Opportunities:

Donut Sunday: Join us after Mass for fellowship and delicious donuts. It's a great way to meet new people in the community and catch up with old ones.

New Parish Member Follow-up: We reach out to new members to ensure they feel welcomed and informed about our parish activities.

Children's Mass Bags and Little Saints Room: We offer engaging activities for children during Mass to help them connect with their faith in a fun way.

Current Needs - Donut welcomers!:

Volunteer Needs:

Three primary leads to organize and schedule other volunteers.

Four additional volunteers are needed to rotate weekly. These numbers allow for a weekly/monthly rotation.

Time Commitment

Primary Lead: 4 hours per month.

Additional volunteers: About 45 minutes for each mass

- Donut pick up before the 8:00 Mass requires additional time for those responsible for this task.

Duties: May include picking up donuts and delivering to church, set up and serve donuts, make coffee, clean up after the event and collect donations. This ministry also serves cookies following the 5:00 mass.

"I was newly attending St. Barbara and I thought I stumbled upon the lucky day they were serving donuts! New to Catholicism, I didn’t realize that serving donuts happened frequently as a forum for fellowship and faith. In fact, this became the most important place early on that I met friends and felt welcome at the church. And now it’s a nonnegotiable post-church event for my children, of course."
-New Parishioner, 2024
