Confirmation

St. Barbara Faith Formation will be remote through December 2021.  We will re-evaluate in January 2022.

The sacrament of Confirmation is, with Baptism and Eucharist, one of the three sacraments of initiation. Confirmation completes and "confirms" the grace of Baptism. Through the anointing with the sacred chrism the baptized person is "enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit," and more than ever "obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed" (Catechism 1285).

Our Confirmation program is tentative right now until we hire to fill the open staffing position.  Please still fill out the registration form if you have a student interested in Confirmation classes.  We will be in contact with you about any updated Confirmation information as it becomes available.

For the 2021-2022 year we will be following CDC, Washington State Department of Health, and Seattle Archdiocese guidelines for social distancing, cleaning protocols, and mask wearing.  Thank you for supporting these guidelines.

Our Confirmation program is a two-year program and is open to all students in Grades 6-12.

However, students seeking to be Confirmed in Spring of 2022 need to have participated in Faith Formation during the 2020-2021 school year and be registered for proper grade level weekly Youth Program and additional Confirmation sessions during the 2021-2022 school year.  Confirmation candidates must spend two years in preparation in order to be confirmed.

At this time, we are unsure what specific dates the additional Confirmation sessions and retreat will be held.  Class dates will be determined once the staff member who runs Confirmation is hired.

Parent volunteers are an essential part of our Confirmation Program.  Volunteers are needed to lead and assist the classes.  All volunteers must complete the Safe Environment Training offered through the VIRTUS program.   Please contact Sara Hotchkiss at re@stbarbarachurch.org if you are interested in volunteering with Confirmation.
