Father Chuck PalluckFather Chuck Palluck, affectionately known by parishioners as "Father Chuck", has been pastor of St. Barbara Parish since 1975. Known for his lively homilies and intense interest in the liturgy of the Church and the personal spiritual life of parish members, Father Chuck got his priestly start at St. John’s Abbey and University in Collegeville, Minnesota.
Whether the vortex of spirituality that funnels through Saint Barbara Parish is ignited by Father Chuck and his dedicated staff, the physical icon of the simple country church, the surrounding natural beauty of the great Northwest, or the gentle hearts of those who make this their spiritual home, we do not know. What we do know is that God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — lives and reigns in the hearts and souls of the community and of those who come to visit Saint Barbara Church. St. Barbara Church, founded in 1911, is experiencing a
physical and spiritual growth that has caused the community to begin construction of a
much larger facility to handle the large number of people who chose to make this their
spiritual home. The rustic country church, which remains as a chapel for small
weddings, funerals and weekday mass, and was joined in April 1997 with a much larger
church building and religious education center. The new facility, designed by Roy
Koczarski, AIA, maintains the charm of the country setting while opening the community to
all the richness of the Catholic liturgy.
Father Chuck is not alone in the parish however. A lively pastoral council assists him in seeking the growth of life in
Christ for the parish. A gentle finance commission and staff work together with the
pastoral council to form a consistent core that promotes the parish goal: Saint. Barbara
is a welcoming parish that consciously provides spiritual growth for everyone, and
advocates the relationship of Christ and family within the home. A huge, loving cadre of
volunteers are the hands that carry the grace of Christ’s love way beyond the
physical setting of the parish plant.
