Journey Youth Group

Journey Youth Group is for parish teens and friends in grades 9 – 12. Journey Youth Group meetings are typically held in the parish hall on the first and third Sundays of each month from 6:30 until 8:00 pm.

Journey teens always have a lot of fun and enjoy many teen snacks at the meetings. Exciting (sometimes, crazy) games, developing friendships and other activities take place at the meetings. A lot of the discussion at the meetings has its focus on the Scripture texts that were read that day at Mass. Sometimes we apply the thoughts of the homily to our teen life. Other times various Church teachings are examined in light of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Not all Journey activities take place at the parish campus. Journey teens regularly participate in building homes in conjunction with the parish Habitat for Humanity group. Then there is ice skating. That is always a fun time. Every other year, Journey teens and adult leaders “journey” to Mexico where they spend a week building homes for some of the needy in that country. In November, Journey teens join approximately 2,000 other teens from all over western North America for the Archdiocesan Youth Convention. Journey members are frequently honored at the Convention for their outstanding efforts in community service.

Check out the Journey Youth Group. Members always have a great time together. Everyone is welcome. Chad and Jenney Leatham, Journey adult leaders, can be reached by contacting St. Barbara Parish at the phone number or e-mail address given on the Home Page above.
